The
New York School of Education of HUC-JIR offers its students the
unique opportunity to study with first- and second-career students,
who bring a wealth of experiences to the community. The model of
a "shared partnership of learners" is created as education, rabbinical,
and cantorial students take classes together, worship together,
participate in a monthly Symposium together, work side-by-side at
the HUC-JIR Soup Kitchen, and share the responsibiliteis of running
the active Student Government Association. All students become part
of active communities of learning, of faith, and of tikkun olam.
Students, faculty, administrators, and staff join together in these
opportunitites for learning and worship, and in social justice profects.
By relating to one another while a the College-Institute, students
develop a network of colleagues to provide support and resources
in future proessional settings.
The School of Education through both its Scholar-in-Residence and
and Alumni-in-Residence programs, offers students the opportunity
to meet with scholars and practitioners on a regular basis.
