David Mendelsson, Ph.D., M.A, B.A.
Schusterman Visiting Professor of Israeli Studies (2010-2011) Dr. David Mendelsson is head of Israel Studies at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem and lectures at the Rothberg International School at the Hebrew University. His doctorate is from the Hebrew University's Department of Contemporary Jewry, the subject of which was the History of Jewish Education in England from 1944-1988. His most recent publication is an article in the History of Education on Embracing Jewish Day School Education England 1965-79. He has been a scholar-in-residence at Brandeis University, the Los Angeles campus of HUC-JIR, and at Michigan State University.

Dr. Mendelsson was born in London, England and made aliyah in 1980. He is married to Dalia, from Uruguay and they have three children.
