Making a Donation to HUC-JIR and the Kalsman Institute

Through a financial gift to the HUC-JIR and the Kalsman Institute on Judaism and Health, you can make a difference in the lives of our students and Jews in need of health and healing services.

Pastoral Care Funding Opportunities

Your commitment would help ensure pastoral education for rabbinical students of HUC Los Angeles. We are raising money for work-study fellowships for students who train in settings where patient care is provided, and where chaplaincy is an important component of the overall treatment plans for patients and their families. Each semester, students are placed in:

  • Hospitals
  • Homes for the aging
  • Hospices
  • Congregations

Settings vary from the UCLA Medical Center, to the San Francisco Home for the Aging; and from congregations that specialize in work with congregants facing addiction, to hospices that provide palliative end of life care. Our fellowships range between $3,500 and $7,000. Fellowships can be named in honor of someone, on a one time basis, or given in memory of someone; and we always enjoy the opportunity the donor has of hearing from the student about his or her training experience.

Jewish Bioethics Funding Opportunities

You can join us in building Jewish Bioethics for the 21 st century. The Kalsman Institute is a founding partner of the Academic Coalition for Jewish Bioethics. You may become a an individual sponsoring member of the ACJB for $500 or your organization may become an institutional sponsoring member for $1,000.

All contributions are tax deductible as provided by law. Gifts are made payable to
