	Creation, Procreation and the New Genetics September 10-11, 2006 The third annual conference open to the public focuses on the ethical issues raised by the rapidly changing field of genetics. SHOW DETAILS HIDE DETAILS Organization: The Academic Coalition for Jewish Bioethics Title: Creation, Procreation and the New Genetics Date: September 10-11, 2006 Location: The Jewish Theological Seminary, New York, New York Description: September 10th A conference open to the public focusing on the ethical issues raised by the rapidly changing field of genetics. September 11th Paper presentations and a methodological discussion aimed at academics and scholars of Jewish Ethics as it applies to genetics, embryology, stem cell research, cloning, genetic screening, and the use of genetic data. The Academic Coalition for Jewish Bioethics announced a call for papers to be presented at the conference on the above topic. Submissions will be accepted in Jewish studies and medicine, bioethics, and relevant areas in the humanities, as well as papers from practitioners reflecting on practice. 	Medicine, Money and Morals: The Jewish Obligation to Heal Confronts Healthcare Economics April 3-4, 2005 The second annual conference open to the public generated Jewish moral dialogue concerning the challenges raised by current methods of healthcare distribution. The moral distinctions in the provision of expensive and scarce medical resources were recognized and the tension between societal obligations to provide basic healthcare and other societal demands on resources was examined. 	Death, Dying and End of Life Issues November 6, 13, 20, 2003 An on-line interactive scholarly discourse on end-of-life issues, co-presented with the Joint Commission on Sustaining Rabbinic Education of the CCAR and HUC-JIR. SHOW DETAILS HIDE DETAILS Organization: HUC-JIR and The Joint Commission on Sustaining Rabbinic Education Title: Death, Dying and End of Life Issues Date: November 6, 13, 20, 2003 Location: On-Line Description: An on-line interactive scholarly discourse on end-of-life issues, co-presented with the Joint Commission on Sustaining Rabbinic Education of the CCAR and HUC-JIR. This three-part mini-course is available to all CCAR members, and features sessions on literature, ethics, and congregational scholarship. Originally the HUC-JIR Department o Distance Education made this course accessible to colleagues around the globe through web-based educational materials and real-time call-in courses. The material is now available through the commission's archives.
