Lennard Thal, 4th Dean

Rabbi Thal was the Associate Dean of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Los Angeles Campus, from 1973 to 1982.

Lennard R. Thal was born and raised in Bellingham Washington. Rabbi Thal received an A.B. from Princeton University, a J.D. from Stanford University Law School, and an M.A.H.L., Rabbinic Ordination, and a D.D. from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.

He is currently the senior vice president of the Union for Reform Judaism. He is the recipient of numerous academic and community awards and has a lengthy and distinguished list of organizational affiliations. He has served for many years as the visiting rabbi to the United Hebrew Congregation of Singapore.
