The Rhea Hirsch School of Education at HUC-JIR/LA held the inaugural Sara S. Lee Colloquium for students and academic and clinical faculty October 6-7, 2008. The annual colloquium will provide Jewish educators, and students preparing to become Jewish educators, the opportunity to engage with a leading expert in Jewish education. The Colloquium is supported by the Sara S. Lee Clinical Education Fund, created and sustained by the RHSOE Alumni Association.

This year's colloquium was Synagogue 101: Exploring the Forces Driving Congregational Life with guest scholar, Amy Asin. Asin is Past President of Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, CA, as well as Project Director for ECE's RE-IMAGINE Project in Los Angeles. Asin presented a deep understanding of the driving forces behind congregational life from lay and professional perspectives.
