Judith Margolis, Artist in Residence at HUC-JIR/LA

Judith Margolis, Artist-in-Residence at HUC-JIR/LA presents her exhibit "Twist of Fate," at HUC-JIR/LA. She says, "The essential connection between creativity and spirituality is at the center of my philosophy as an educator."
Margolis is an Israel-based visual artist, educator, and creative director of Bright Idea Books, which designs and produces limited-edition artist's books, commercial fiction and non-fiction, and publications for special events.
Margolis describes the subjects of her work as "about what I read in the newspapers. My paintings find the nexus point where the political and spiritual confront each other. They are informed by the combined influence of German expressionist figuration and color field abstraction with all the political and spiritual underpinnings that these art movements imply."
Margolis will present her work at Intersections: A Celebration of Performing and Visual Arts at HUC-JIR/LA on Monday, March 17, 2007, at 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., along with Andrea Hodos, performance artist and director of Moving Torah.
