HUC-JIR Alumni Council Meets at New York Campus

Sixteen members of the Council of Alumni Associations gathered at HUC-JIR/NY for two days of meetings.

Alumni leaders from each of the College-Institute's alumni associations, representing rabbinical, cantorial, education, communal service, and graduate studies alumni, come together annually to be briefed by the College-Institute's administration and to work together on matters of mutual concern.

This year the Council's agenda included a meeting with Rabbi David Ellenson, HUC-JIR President, and Barbara Friedman, Chair of the Board of Governors. Among the issues discussed were alumni representation on the Board of Governors, alumni development efforts, and HUC-JIR's commitment to sustaining alumni education.

Council members completed an on-line seminar on Jewish identity, taught using the latest technology by the Rhea Hirsch School of Education's newest faculty member Tali Hyman, based in Los Angeles.
