 HUC-JIR Alumni Council Meets at New York Campus 
Sixteen members of the Council of Alumni Associations gathered at HUC-JIR/NY for two days of meetings.
Alumni leaders from each of the College-Institute's alumni associations, representing rabbinical, cantorial, education, communal service, and graduate studies alumni, come together annually to be briefed by the College-Institute's administration and to work together on matters of mutual concern. This year the Council's agenda included a meeting with Rabbi David Ellenson, HUC-JIR President, and Barbara Friedman, Chair of the Board of Governors. Among the issues discussed were alumni representation on the Board of Governors, alumni development efforts, and HUC-JIR's commitment to sustaining alumni education. Council members completed an on-line seminar on Jewish identity, taught using the latest technology by the Rhea Hirsch School of Education's newest faculty member Tali Hyman, based in Los Angeles. Founded in 1875, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion is the nation's oldest institution of higher Jewish education and the academic, spiritual, and professional leadership development center of Reform Judaism.
