Sheri Sable Named Director of Development, Midwest Region, at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati

Rabbi David Ellenson has announced the appointment of Sheri Sable as Director of Development, Midwest Region, at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, as of March 1, 2008

"We are delighted to welcome Sheri Sable to our administration, and look forward to the benefit of her expertise in advancing fund raising strategies, nurturing philanthropic relationships, organizing complex events, developing proposals and presentations, and advancing marketing and communications to strengthen the College-Institute's mission and outreach throughout the Midwest region of the United States," stated Rabbi Ellenson, HUC-JIR President.

A native of Dayton Ohio, Sable received the B.A. in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania in 1983, and pursued studies in Arabic, Islamic Law, Modern Jewish Intellectual History, and Philosophy at Hebrew University. She founded and managed Metamark International, a highly successful global strategic business development consulting firm with headquarters in Tel Aviv, whose client base consisted primarily of cutting-edge high-tech start-ups, most of which are now publicly traded in the U.S. equity market. Her firm's services included developing growth and international marketing strategies, raising capital, and creating and implementing corporate positioning and communications strategies. Her pro bono activities in Israel included management of the Israeli Ethiopian Children's Choir, serving on the board of the Melitz Education Foundation, and as a consultant to the Arab-Israel Joint Economic Foundation. Upon her return to the U.S. in 1995, Sable applied her strategic development expertise to the for-profit business sector in a variety of industries and the not-for-profit sector, including Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, the Mass Biotech Council, NPR, and the University of Miami.
