HUC-JIR FRANCES-HENRY LIBRARY HOSTS SPECIAL "SEFARAD IN MY HEART: LADINO CULTURE IN TEXTS AND IMAGES" EXHIBIT LOS ANGELES – "Sefared In My Heart: Ladino Culture in Texts and Images," a new exhibit The Frances-Henry Library of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion's Los Angeles School is now open to the public during the Library's operating hours: Mondays and Tuesdays, 8:00am - 9:00pm, Wednesdays, 8:00am - 7:00pm, Thursdays, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Fridays, 8:00am - 4:30pm, and Sundays from 12:00 - 5:00pm. The Frances-Henry Library is located on the second floor of HUC-JIR, 3077 University Avenue in Los Angeles (off of Hoover Street, between 30th and 32nd Streets). The exhibit will close on Tuesday, May 15, 2001. The exhibit is offered in conjunction with the Sephardic Studies Curriculum Project at HUC-JIR, funded by the Maurice Amado Foundation through its support of the Sephardic Studies Curriculum Project at HUC-JIR. "Sefared In My Heart: Ladino Culture in Texts and Images" is a window into the heritage of a "portable homeland" carried by Jews expelled from Spain, into the Ottoman Empire and other countries: the Spain (Sefared) in their hearts. The exhibit displays rare books, liturgies, music, stamps and pulp fiction articles from the collections of the Klau Library at HUC-JIR, Cincinnati, the Frances-Henry Library, and the private collection of Professor Moshe Lazar, scholar and publisher of Ladino texts, from the University of Southern California.
