Greenspahn, C '73, edited The Hebrew Bible: New Insights and Scholarship, published by NYU Press. The volume contains essays describing how the fields of archeology, theology, ancient studies, literary studies, feminist studies, and other disciplines now understand the Bible, aimed at communicating this academic research to the public. Plaut, C '70, DHL '77, The Jews of Windsor, 1790-1990 - A Historical Chronicle and One Voice: The Selected Sermons of W. Gunther Plaut. The Jews of Windsor is a 200-year chronicle of the founding pioneer families in Ontario, Canada. The work documents the many individuals who were involved in establishing synagogues, schools, and an organized communal structure in spite of divergent religious, political, and economic interests. Modernity and the growing influences of Zionism and Reform Judaism challenged the traditional leanings of the community's founders. Jews were represented in city council, actively involved in communal organizations, and appointed to judicial posts. While its Jewish population was small, Windsor boasted Canada's first Jewish Cabinet members, provincially and federally. As the new millennium approached, Jews faced shrinking numbers, forcing major consolidations in order to ensure their survival. • Click here for more information One Voice is a collection of sermons by W. Gunther Plaut, C '39, Johnathan V. Plaut's father, an internationally acclaimed rabbi and scholar.
