HUC-JIR/LA Students Get Israel Update with Dr. Dave Mendelsson at HUC-JIR/Jerusalem

Students at HUC-JIR/LA, led by second year rabbinical student Samantha Orshan, initiated an Israel update via videoconference with Jerusalem and their former Israel Studies teacher, Dr. Dave Mendelsson, from the HUC-JIR/Jerusalem faculty. After a brief presentation during which Dr. Mendelsson explained the mood in Israel surrounding the conference in Annapolis – not an especially optimistic one – students pitched a variety of questions, dealing with the balance of forces in the Knesset, Prime Minister Olmert's standing and the wider regional implications of the summit. All involved reflected that the video conference was a wonderful way to stay in touch and be updated about Israel affairs. A further update is planned for the spring semester.
