Rabbi Charles A. Kroloff Appointed Vice President for Special Projects at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion

Rabbi David Ellenson, President of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, has announced the appointment of Rabbi Charles A. Kroloff as Vice President for Special Projects. Rabbi Kroloff will assist in development activities and represent the College-Institute at significant occasions.

A devoted alumnus, Rabbi Kroloff has served as a member of HUC-JIR's Board of Governors, as Past-President of the Hebrew Union College Alumni Association, and as the Stephen S. Wise Visiting Professor at HUC-JIR/New York.

In announcing this appointment, Rabbi Ellenson said, "We are honored to have Chuck Kroloff join the senior administration of the College-Institute and look forward to his vision and guidance as we advance the mission of our institution as the spiritual, academic, and professional leadership development center for the Reform Movement."

Rabbi Kroloff brings a career of distinction and achievement to his new responsibilities. He served as Senior Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El of Westfield, New Jersey, a congregation of over 1,150 families, for 36 years and, most recently, as Interim Senior Rabbi of Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. He is the Past President of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, which represents 1,800 Reform rabbis worldwide and the Past President of ARZA, the Association of Reform Zionists of America. A national communal and civic leader, he is the Past President of the Coalition of Religious Leaders of New Jersey, Former Commissioner of the New Jersey Bioethics Commission, a board member of Mazon, Past National Board member of the Union for Reform Judaism, and Past Vice-President of the Interfaith Council for the Homeless of Union County, New Jersey.

A noted social action and human rights advocate, Rabbi Kroloff is the author of When Elijah Knocks: A Religious Response to Homelessness (Behrman House) and 54 Ways You Can Help the Homeless (MacMillan).

Rabbi Kroloff is married to Dr. Terry Kroloff and they are the parents of three children, Micah, Noah, and Sarah, and the grandparents of Adam, Arielle, Jonathan, and Aaron
