Rabbi Dantowitz appointed Regional Director of Admissions/Recruitment,HUC-JIR/NY

Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz has been appointed the Regional Director of Admissions and Recruitment at HUC-JIR/New York, a new position that will supplement the exceptional work in recruitment and admissions done by Rabbi Shirley Idelson, Associate Dean, over the past few years. Faith joins a College-wide admissions and recruitment team that includes her counterpart regional directors on the Cincinnati and Los Angeles campuses and the associate provost for enrollment and planning, who oversee admissions & recruitment for HUC-JIR nationwide.

Since her ordination from HUC-JIR in 1993, Rabbi Dantowitz has served as an associate rabbi at Congregation B'nai Jeshrun in Short Hills, NJ. Her accomplishments there include the creation of a Healing Service on Yom Kippur, the initiation of Tot Shabbat services, and founding a Women's Seder. Faith is a member of the rabbinical faculty at URJ Camp Harlam and has had teaching experience in the religious schools of the Wilshire Boulevard Synagogue in LA and Temple Israel in Boston. She currently serves as the chair of the CCAR Committee on Women in the Rabbinate. During her years at HUC, Rabbi Dantowitz was awarded the Dr. Michael and Jennie Canick Award in Hebrew Language and Literature and the Martin and Betty Ryback Award in Chaplaincy. She holds an undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
